Rikers Island to release 300 nonviolent inmates convicted of misdemeanors amid coronavirus outbreak, de Blasio says

New York City will immediately release 300 inmates from Rikers Island, the city’s main jail complex, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday.
